Yongyangneup Marsh (Yongyangbo)

  • Location Yongyang-ri, Kimhwa-eup, Cheorwon-gun

The DMZ Eco Peace Park was established in order to convey the symbolic message of the DMZ, where war, peace, and ecology coexist, through an agreement between the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of National Defense, and Cheorwon-gun.
Yongyangbo is the sloping bridge that was used by soldiers who stood guard at the DMZ after the war. After war, the middle of Yongyangbo wore out and fell due to wear and tear over the years. Now, only the iron wire that serves as a support barely remains, creating a magnificent view that can only be seen in Cheorwon. Yongyangbo, which has not been visited by humans for the past 60 years, offers a view of the beautiful wetlands with colonies of red leaf willows, and it is a place where migratory birds such as cormorants, cranes, and swans visit every season.
